This small rectangular Swati art tray is painted on a bright red ground in Swat Valley, Pakistan. Rather than a central medallion it uses concentric rectangular bands, each carrying a different motif, working inward from a turquoise vine on the rim to a fine saffron arcade at the core. The composition is drawn from Swati painted door and chest panels.
