This 6-inch canister jar has the same rounded lid and knob as our other jars in this size, but the pattern is built in horizontal bands rather than one repeating motif. A row of light blue cloud-shaped paisleys sits below the rim, then a dark cobalt band with an interlocking heart-and-leaf design, then a second row of paisleys, and a scalloped border near the base. The lid picks up the same paisley motif on top, finished with a solid cobalt knob.
The 4-inch opening fits ground spices, loose tea, whole coffee beans, or dried herbs easily. At 6 inches tall, it holds roughly 2 to 3 cups of dry goods.
The ceramic lid sits in a snug fitted groove, close enough to keep out humidity and slow spices going stale. It isn't a rubber-gasket seal like a mason jar, so don't use it for liquids.
This layout builds the pattern in horizontal registers, similar to our layered floral jar, rather than repeating one motif top to bottom. It's a more traditional Multani layout and takes longer to paint.
Plenty of customers buy this design to sit on a shelf or console table. The layered pattern works well as a standalone piece, and it holds spices or tea just as well if you want it to earn its keep.
Hand wash with mild soap and warm water, or wipe with a damp cloth. Skip the dishwasher and abrasive scrubbers, since they can dull the glaze over time.
Handcrafted in Multan, Pakistan. Since every jar is hand-painted, the spacing of the paisley bands will vary slightly from jar to jar. That's normal for handmade blue pottery, not a defect.
