This 300 ml ceramic mug is hand-painted in Swat Valley, Pakistan, on a warm caramel-brown body glazed inside and out in the same tone. Cobalt blossom clusters and crimson scrolls run down the central panel, flanked by a turquoise fan band and ivory teardrops, with gold liner work tying the composition together. The caramel ground is the warmest colourway in the mug range.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the inside of the mug painted?

No. The interior is a plain caramel-toned food-safe glaze applied to the ceramic body before decoration. All hand-painting is on the outer wall and the handle.

Does the brown ground hide tea and coffee stains?

The interior glaze is non-porous, so it does not stain the way an unglazed or crazed surface would. The warm tone does make any residue less obvious between washes than a white interior.

What makes the turquoise fan band a Swati motif?

The repeating fan or scallop arcade is one of the standard filler bands in Swati ornament, used to separate decorated panels on trays, boxes, and painted architecture. It appears on nearly every piece in this collection.

Is it suitable for hot drinks?

Yes. It handles boiling water for tea and coffee without issue. Avoid extreme thermal shock, such as pouring boiling water into a mug straight from a cold fridge.
