A large oval rice dish with a small pointed handle at each end, so it is easy to pass across a table. It is painted almost entirely in cobalt. A border of white palmettes and small flowers runs round the inside, and the centre holds a round medallion in white and sky blue, with petals radiating from a small flower in the middle.
Deep enough for pulao or biryani for four, and the dark blue makes white rice look good on it.
Yes, the glaze is lead-free. It is made for serving at the table.
