A small round ashtray in Multani blue pottery with a heavy rolled rim. The cobalt is brushed on thick and the white scallop strokes are cut into it freehand, so the rhythm of the pattern changes as it goes round. The well is left plain cream so ash shows up against it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does it hold a cigarette properly?
Yes. The rim is pinched into rests that take a standard cigarette or an incense stick without it rolling off.
Will heat crack the glaze?
No. It is fired well above anything a cigarette produces. What does damage these is dropping them on tile, so keep it on a desk rather than a ledge.
Can I use it for food instead?
The glaze is lead-free, so a few olives or pistachio shells are fine. Once it has been used as an ashtray, keep it as one.
Is every one painted the same?
The scallops are freehand, so no two run identically. If you are buying a pair, we will pick two from the same batch.
