Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Raheem written in cream across a smoky gray and brown wash, with a cobalt rim and a ring of small script round the inside of it. The gray is worked wet so it moves like ink on paper, and no two plates dry the same way.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the stand come with it?
Yes. The carved wooden easel in the photo is included.
What does the calligraphy say?
Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Raheem, the opening line of the Quran: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Can I hang it on the wall instead?
Yes, with a standard spring plate hanger. The rim is thick enough to take one without chipping.
Is it safe to serve food on?
The glaze is lead-free, so technically yes. It is made as a display piece though, and the writing is the reason to own it, so we would keep food off it.
Handcrafted in Multan, Pakistan. Minor variations in color and pattern are natural features of authentic handmade work.
