Craftan is an Islamabad-based store dedicated to authentic handmade Pakistani crafts — sourced directly from artisan communities across Pakistan and delivered to your door.

Our collection brings together two of Pakistan's most celebrated craft traditions:

Multani Blue Pottery (Kashigari) — hand-painted ceramic pieces made by artisans in Multan, Punjab. Each piece is mold-cast, painted by hand with mineral-based lead-free glazes, and fired at high temperature to produce the vivid cobalt blue and white designs the craft has been famous for over 300 years. No two pieces are identical. The collection includes planters, vases, bowls, plates, mugs, tea sets, serving dishes, jars, soap dishes, lamp bases, and decorative accessories — 238 pieces across 7 categories.

Swati Wooden Heritage — hand-carved and oil-painted wooden items from the artisans of Swat Valley, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Trays, tissue boxes, decorative baskets, and serving pieces featuring the bold floral folk patterns of northern Pakistan's craft tradition.

Every item at Craftan is handmade, authentic, and sourced directly from the craftspeople who make it. When you purchase from Craftan, you are supporting artisan families in Multan and Swat Valley who have practised these crafts for generations.

Frequently Asked Questions

What crafts does Craftan stock?
Craftan stocks two categories of authentic Pakistani handicrafts: Multani blue pottery (Kashigari) — hand-painted ceramic pieces from artisans in Multan, Punjab — and Swati wooden heritage items, hand-carved and oil-painted by craftspeople in Swat Valley, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Is Craftan's blue pottery authentic and lead-free?
Yes. All Multani blue pottery at Craftan is hand-painted by artisans in Multan using mineral-based, lead-free glazes. Each piece is mold-cast — the traditional and correct production method for this craft — and individually painted by hand. No machine printing, no synthetic glazes.

Does Craftan deliver across Pakistan?
Yes. Craftan delivers to all major cities across Pakistan. Free shipping applies to all orders over PKR 15,000. For orders under PKR 15,000, a standard shipping fee applies at checkout.

How is Multani blue pottery made?
Each piece is mold-cast from a blended clay mixture, dried slowly, and bisque-fired in a kiln. Artisans then hand-paint each design using mineral pigments — including cobalt oxide, which appears grey-black when applied but transforms to vivid blue during the final high-temperature kiln firing. A lead-free mineral glaze is applied before the final firing seals the design permanently into the ceramic surface.

What is Kashigari?
Kashigari is the traditional name for the glazed ceramic craft of Multan, Pakistan. The name derives from Kashan, the Persian city where the broader tradition originated. Multani blue pottery and Kashigari refer to the same craft — a 300-year-old tradition of mold-cast, hand-painted ceramics rooted in Persian and Central Asian artistic influences.

Can I use blue pottery for food and drink?
Craftan's blue pottery uses lead-free mineral glazes, making it safe for dry food display and serving. As with all decorative ceramics, we recommend avoiding prolonged storage of highly acidic foods directly in ceramic vessels. For daily drinkware use, our mugs and tea sets are fully functional.
